It was a great two-win weekend for CCU against rival Liberty University Flames. CCU won two very close one-goal games to avenge two losses at Liberty earlier this season. Game One saw CCU rally from three consecutive one-goal deficits to force the game into overtime where less than a minute into the extra session JT Compton fed a perfect pass to the point to defenseman Justin Lallak whose wrister snuck under the blocker arm of the Liberty goalie to give the Chants their first win of this season. The team showed great determination and never gave up which paid huge dividends in overtime.

In Game Two, the Chants jumped out to early 1-0 and 2-1 leads and eventually a 4-2 lead in the 2nd period. Liberty played well also and managed to tie the score at 4-4 heading into the 3rd period. This final period saw both teams creating good scoring chances and playing tough defense before an ill-timed major penalty was assessed to Liberty to put the Chants on the power play with only 3 minutes left. It didn’t take long to cash in the game winner as JT Compton again fed Justin Lallak whose shot from the left point was redirected in on a beautiful deflection by Justin Fowlkes at the 2:15 mark. The Chants then ground the clock down the rest of the way to earn another victory.

Two great and gutsy performances this weekend to kickoff the 2021 spring season.
